  3. Scouting for Food 2024
  • The Boy Scouts of America–Michigan Crossroads Council is teaming up with Food Gatherers for its annual Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, November 9th.

This event is the Boy Scouts of America’s largest service project of the year. If you receive a Scouting for Food  grocery bag on your porch, please fill that bag (and others!) with non-perishable food items and leave it on your porch that Saturday, November 9th by 9 am. The Scouts will collect food from 9 am until 2 pm in select areas of Washtenaw County.

    Suggested items to donate:

Food Gatherers is always in need of shelf-stable protein rich foods, including canned chicken, canned tuna, beans, peanut butter, and protein drinks like Boost and Ensure. Other great suggestions are hearty soups, canned veggies and fruits, cereal, and oatmeal.

    **Please no glass jars**

While we work hard to make sure no food donation is missed, our volunteers do occasionally encounter unexpected circumstances that may prevent them from picking up your donation. In this event, please consider delivering your donation to a Food Gatherers partner pantry nearest you. Visit https://www.foodgatherers.org/foodresources/ for more information.

Thank you for your continued support!

In Support of Food Gatherers
Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.

We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
