Ann Arbor Troop 4 Boy Scouts have participated in an annual food drive for many years as part of their commitment to the Scout Promise to “help other people at all times.” In 2006, the project took on deeper meaning as a way to honor Eagle Scout Tim Esch, who was the top collector for several years before his tragic death in an auto accident at age 18 in 2005.Thanks to generous donors, the Troop 4/Tim Esch Memorial Scouting For Food drive has provided an average of 60,000 meal donations/year over the past five years through Food Gatherers. Collections from this campaign directly support Food Gatherers - Washtenaw County’s only food rescue and food bank program - to fight child hunger in our community.
