Food Gatherers is the food bank and food rescue serving Washtenaw County. Every fall, Community High School students join together and raise funds to help provide food to our neighbors who rely on local emergency pantries, meal programs, and other distributions of healthy food to feed themselves and their families.
Just as families in our community were starting to recover from the effects of the pandemic, inflation hit, bringing with it a 15.3% increase in grocery prices statewide. For households that were already struggling to make ends meet, this has made life even more difficult. As a result, Food Gatherers’partner food pantries have seen an increase in visits over the past six months.
Donations made to the Community High School campaign will provide healthy food to children, families, adults, and seniors in our community, and thanks to a generous matching pledge from the Harold and Kay Peplau Family Fund, your donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000.
To give now, click on DONATE. Or, if you prefer, you can call us to donate at 734-761-2796 (press option 2), or send a check made out to Food Gatherers (please write "Community High" in the memo line so your gift will be matched) to P.O. Box 131037, Ann Arbor, MI 48113.

In Support of Food Gatherers
Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.
We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
