HVDSA stands with Food Gatherers and the community in the fight to keep poor and working class people fed during this time of austerity. This administration pours billions of dollars into the military industrial complex and its wars abroad, but refuses to provide necessary assistance to families in need.
Food Gatherers provided the equivalent of 23,000 meals per day through our network of more than 140 hunger-relief agencies and programs in 2024. With an already established food distribution network, Huron Valley DSA's Member Solidarity and Accessibility Working Group has decided to focus our efforts on supporting the most effective organizations combating food insecurity in Washtenaw County. We hope to expand our Mutual Aid efforts to provide diverse ways to demonstrate solidarity moving forward. Thank you for your donation! Solidarity Forever!
In Support of Food Gatherers
Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.
We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
