Problem: As of November 1, 2025, the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will no longer provide financial benefits. As a result, many households in our community will now rely on Food Gatherers for support.
Why Donate $ "Food Gatherers purchases food below retail prices, so your donated dollar puts more meals on your neighbor’s table than the food you purchase to donate."
As medical students, it's our duty to ensure our community has access to food. Thank you for helping us support Food Gatherers through this fund drive!
Updates: a $4.6 billion contingency fund will be used during this time, however this will only cover about 50% of the November benefits required. The distribution of this contingency fund is unclear, leading to delays for families relying on SNAP benefits. Once the contingency fund is rolled out, there will be no funds remaining for any new SNAP applicants or for disaster assistance.

In Support of Food Gatherers
Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.
We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
