Welcome to the Arbor Ridge 2025 Fundraiser for Food Gatherers. Please join in helping us raise donations to combat hunger in our community at this critical moment.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced that SNAP benefits will not be distributed in November. The suspension of benefits is due to the federal government shutdown and a delay in distribution of funds.
In response, Food Gatherers is purchasing more food and increasing distributions in November to help people in our community impacted by the delayed payment of SNAP benefits.
Collecting funds is the most effective way to alleviate hunger in our community. Here’s why:
- We can turn $1 into more meals! Food Gatherers purchases food below retail prices, so your donated dollar puts more meals on your neighbor’s table than the food you purchase to donate.
- Financial donations build healthier communities! Non-perishable food items like pasta, rice, and canned goods are a vital part of our distribution, but they are only one part of a healthy, balanced diet. Perishable items including fresh fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, and lean proteins can’t be directly donated through food drives but are vital for healthy lives.
95% of every donation directly supporting our hunger relief efforts in Washtenaw County, gifts of food and/or funds provide direct relief to children, families, individuals, and seniors.

In Support of Food Gatherers
Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.
We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
