  2. Zingerman's Fights Hunger!
Sharing food for the holidays is a Zingerman's tradition that we want to extend to all members of our community. For the whole month of November, the Zingerman's Community of Businesses will be collecting funds and food to help ensure that no one in our community goes hungry this holiday season.

Did you know that Food Gatherers was founded by Zingerman’s Delicatessen?

A few days before Thanksgiving in 1988, volunteers borrowed a van and collected 50 pounds of vegetables, bread, milk, and eggs from half a dozen grocery stores and restaurants. The food was quickly re-distributed to hot meal programs in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Today Food Gatherers is the food bank and food rescue serving all of Washtenaw County. Right now the need is greater than ever - click DONATE to help feed our hungry neighbors during this crisis, and beyond.

Our Mission: Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in our community.

We rescue local food and leverage state and national food resources for hunger relief. We lead a network of hunger relief providers and engage the public in the fight against hunger. We create and sustain innovative new food programs in response to emerging needs. We recognize that hunger will not be solved through the provision of food alone, so we advocate for policies and system changes to create an equitable food system.
